escape

raw scratched off everything bared
cannot cover the wounds fast enough
feeling each being's layers of fiber
slowly peeling away
the raw nature of your words seem harmless
ahh...but within.......
within a linguistic twist in undertone trailed off the lip
slicing its way through
having caught its victim offguard
tears to the core
questions everything forgets more
riding on the one way ticket train to all glory days
shed all passengers to stave off casualties
freeing those undeserving of the load
for fear the beast be released and slashes all in its path
down to the core leaving only carnage behind
the fort has the enemy entrapped
within these walls will navigate the torrent river

discerning and seeking all sides
truth emerging from within
clarity, centered heart and mind
rebuilding during the calm
reminding of the highlights
enjoying the chance for many more to come
always knowing with the dark there is light.

until the onslaught balances within
allow the waters to cool the burns the wounds
ease the pain carrying away blood and tears
leaving in its place
exposed anew
another version to temper the waters

in the mean time
the in between time
there are moments
glimpses at why who and what happened where
other times a face brightened with life and love
sharing and recalling stories treasured dear
and in reflection of recent rollercoasters
tendrils of understanding begin to unfurl
knowledge is power
or a license
or a way to control

balance
between all that is
the in between time is the time to remember
enveloping ones proffered to forget
